ABOUT

Gael (pronounced guy el) Britt, founder and owner of Pamplemousse Art gained her appreciation of art as a result of her worldwide travels.  As a child in Hokkaido Japan, she fell in love with hand scrolls, wooden block prints, and folded screens. While in Vietnam and Thailand, the canon called “Indochine” (created as a result of the French presence in Indochina) had a profound influence on Britt’s later vision of the Zeitgeist effects of traditional European art, and Ethnic Art Expressionism. In Buenos Aires, Argentina she gained an appreciation for Diego Rivera’s murals depicting the struggles of his people. And in Bora Bora, French Polynesia she was drawn to Paul Gauguin’s colorful island depictions of native women. A modeling contract and life in New York City’s Soho district began her love for Contemporary Art.

In 2010 Britt moved to Paris which deepened her love for painting and sculpture, with a strong focus on the African Diaspora combined with her global nomadic approach to collecting. Gael holds a BA in Humanities from Ursuline College in Pepper Pike Ohio, and a Law degree from Pepperdine Caruso Law School in Malibu California.

Pamplemousse Art is grounded in the intersection of culture and art ecosystems, with a strong focus on neo-conceptual artists.  As a 21st century gallerist, Gael is drawn to experimental works by the BIPOC community that combine modern elements tempered by symbolic, abstract depictions of nature and culture. Pamplemousse Art defies professional stereotypes of race and racism by creating a progressive visual culture, born through the evolution of ethnic art.

Pamplemousse Art provides its clients and the public a lens into the future through painting and sculpture with works representing an experimental kaleidoscope of Ethnic Expressionism. The images displayed at Britt’s gallery could be called a visual intervention into the human psyche.  Pamplemousse Art seeks to visually communicate Ethnic Contemporary Art in real-time.
